March 5th, not February 19th!
I wanted to register for the March 5th run, but this event was full, although the Feb 19th event still had some slots open. I delayed for two days while I considered registering for the Feb. 19th event. I came back only to see the event had become full and the registration link was closed. So I wrote the administrators, asking if I could be put on some sort of waiting list in case of cancellations. They wrote back saying just register for the Feb 19th run and then ask to be transferred to the March 5th run. That’s what clued me into re-visiting the registration page and much to my surprise; Feb 19 was magically open again. Hypothermic Half
New Shoes
Well, in my 10k run in Calgary it seems I discovered my left running shoe was disintegrating after only 150 miles. Although I can’t prove it, I suspect that it was not a co-incidence that my left knee started hurting like heck during the run, which I finished anyway. The outside seams on the inner left of the shoe by my arch and big toe started to come apart and it seemed like my whole foot wanted to slide out through the covering. The shoe seemed to make me suddenly over-pronate or something. After the race Karen Cooksley and Dawn suggested I take them back (I think). Anyway, I did just that and the manager at the Running Room helped me out after some hesitation about my shoes being older than 60 days.
