March 5th, not February 19th!

I wanted to register for the March 5th run, but this event was full, although the Feb 19th event still had some slots open. I delayed for two days while I considered registering for the Feb. 19th event. I came back only to see the event had become full and the registration link was closed. So I wrote the administrators, asking if I could be put on some sort of waiting list in case of cancellations. They wrote back saying just register for the Feb 19th run and then ask to be transferred to the March 5th run. That’s what clued me into re-visiting the registration page and much to my surprise; Feb 19 was magically open again. I absolutely KNOW that I looked at both registrations and they were both full and I was so disappointed. At that point I was seriously considering the Chinook Half in April in Calgary. Wouldn’t that be a hoot…to have my second ever race in Calgary as well! For some reason I must have been mistaken because when I looked back at the two Edmonton events I discovered that February’s event was magically open again! I whooped for joy and immediately registered. I did this, and then immediately wrote the administrators asking to be transferred. Much to my surprise I just got an email saying I had been transferred to March 5th. I made sure of this by looking at the confirmation list. I did indeed disappear from the Feb 19th list and I am now on the March 5th list. I don’t understand why, if the events are capped in terms of numbers, they can do this because I can’t imagine why anyone would ask to be transferred off the March 5th list if the Feb 19 list was still open. Anyone know why?

Sounds pretty confusing to me! I don’t run many Running Room races, so I’m not in their loop. I often find my races on the Calgary Roadrunners schedule.

By the way, I tagged you in one of my posts, here: http://completerunning.com/running-downhill/?p=283

    You’re It!
