New Shoes

Well, in my 10k run in Calgary it seems I discovered my left running shoe was disintegrating after only 150 miles. Although I can’t prove it, I suspect that it was not a co-incidence that my left knee started hurting like heck during the run, which I finished anyway. The outside seams on the inner left of the shoe by my arch and big toe started to come apart and it seemed like my whole foot wanted to slide out through the covering. The shoe seemed to make me suddenly over-pronate or something. After the race Karen Cooksley and Dawn suggested I take them back (I think). Anyway, I did just that and the manager at the Running Room helped me out after some hesitation about my shoes being older than 60 days. To keep a long story short, I just walked out of the Running Room with a brand … Continue reading

Some more pics…

I finally got to meet Karen and Dawn at my first race ever in Calgary! What amazing people! Karen was very supportive and helpful and Dawn was fabulously inspiring! You should have seen Karen. After she finished she just ran back a couple hundred meters to meet up and run with us slow folks, taking pictures, and shouting encouragement. The first picture was taken by Karen. The second picture shows Morgan and I crossing the finish line. It also shows the back of Karen running away to meet other finishers. The third with the Muscular Dystrophy banner is a shot of the crowd. The forth and fifth pictures are of happy finishers, and the last is our group shot with Karen, me. Morgan, and Dawn. I had a lot of fun. Karen gave me a tiny purple heart that attaches to my shoelace as a reminder that “I had the … Continue reading

10k Run for Muscular Dystrophy

The theme was Catch the Elves and it was a fun run. I am very glad to have met Karen C. and Dawn. Karen was amazing and very supportive. She finished way before Dawn and me, but I don’t know her time. Karen ran back and forth to urge on late finishers as if she had not just run the 10k herself. Amazing energy. I am also very impressed with Dawn. Dawn is such an inspiration! Thank you Karen and Dawn for your support! Here is a photo of the group just before the race. From left to right we have Karen, John, Morgan, and Dawn.
