15 miles too fast…

Last Sunday I did my last long run before the March 5th half-marathon. Weather was hot, sunny, with a very gentle breeze. Impossible weather for February. I always try to pace myself using my heart rate monitor, but something went awry this time around and I don’t know why. It seems I ran way too fast. I noticed when I passed the thirteen mile mark that my time was at 2 hours and 50 minutes. When I discovered this I realized that was probably why I felt more muscle soreness at that time than usual. I decided to mostly walk the last two miles. Maybe I was feeling finer than usual with my heart rate normal for my training pace, I don’t really know. All I know is that with my heart rate at training pace, I ran faster than normal, but not so much faster that I noticed it. Lack of experience probably…

Sounds like you need more time on the road so you can bet a better feel for your body. Keep it up.
