Hydration Pack Review
High Sierra Model “Soak 2″ hydration pack (www.highsierrasport.com) cost me about $23.00 CDN including taxes. Compare this to the Running Room’s hydration pack at $45.00 CDN or a “Camelbak” at about 50 or 55 dollars. The Running Room’s pack seemed as feature full and as complex as the one I bought but I did not examine it in any detail, in fact, I gave it a passing glance after seeing the price tag. The Camelbak seemed small and featureless by comparison but it was cute. Again I did not examine the Camelbak. I tested this bike riding, and plan on testing it running as well… The High Sierra model I purchased and tested today was very good. It performed very well but I have an issue with it. Uphill and Against the Wind…
At least that is how it felt when I biked 100 km today from my place, looping via HWY 19 then down HWY 2 to Leduc then to HWY 60 just before Calmar and back north to Enoch before heading home again. It all started innocently enough when I had to mail a get well card for a Penguin runner, Liz Itter in Arizona who is facing a serious illness. I also tested for the first time a hydration backpack made by High Sierra and will be posting a review and pictures later today or tomorrow. I don’t really feel too sore after the ride but it isn’t something I would do more than once a week. Total distance 100.17 km over a ride time of 4:55:24 at an average speed of 20.61 KPH.
