Uphill and Against the Wind…

At least that is how it felt when I biked 100 km today from my place, looping via HWY 19 then down HWY 2 to Leduc then to HWY 60 just before Calmar and back north to Enoch before heading home again. It all started innocently enough when I had to mail a get well card for a Penguin runner, Liz Itter in Arizona who is facing a serious illness. I also tested for the first time a hydration backpack made by High Sierra and will be posting a review and pictures later today or tomorrow. I don’t really feel too sore after the ride but it isn’t something I would do more than once a week. Total distance 100.17 km over a ride time of 4:55:24 at an average speed of 20.61 KPH. The first part of the ride was nice and fast since I had the wind at my back but the return trip was difficult and not as nice due to the wind gusts. Judging from my bike computer I would be moving quite fast at about 27 KPH and the wind would come up , slamming into me like a brick wall and within 2 seconds my speed was down to 12 KPH it was that bad. The wind, as wind is want to be, was merciless and seemed to regard me as THE thing to blow towards.
