My training strategy for the future…

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

I think I have been running long enough now to be very comfortable with a certain level of running. Each of you will one day have to decide how much time and effort you are willing to spare for your fitness and running goals. It is not just you that you have to [...]

My feelings about this “rest week”…

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

After doing the 21 km last Saturday I knew it was time for a scheduled rest week. I ended up taking Sunday and Monday off, and today I reluctantly did a 5 km in about 40:48
I say reluctantly because after a hard run like Saturday’s followed by two days of rest, it is very [...]

Thank God for rest weeks…

Saturday, July 28th, 2007

I start my rest week tomorrow, with SLOW 5 km on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and a LSD on Saturday of only 11 km.

Today’s 5 km speed run…

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

I did my 5 km speed run today and improved my PR slightly from 34:15 to 33:58. Not much of an improvement but I am good with that. Wore my heart rate monitor today and my heart rate was between 150 and 155 going out and past the half way point I was [...]

A foggy start for 11 km

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

Got up at 5 AM this morning to once again beat the heat and the sun for an 11 km run. Started out with a thin wispy layer of fog at about eye level. It was really eerie. My pace today was 7:43 for a total time of 1:24:50
Took a few walk [...]
