I am running again!

Friday, August 31st, 2007

Today I ran a 5 km with 5 walk breaks with Marilyn. I felt nothing in my calf which is a good thing. Still, I had a nagging shadow in my mind that said to me “That’s hard enough, no faster.” We did the run in 45:42
Got home, did my regular upper [...]

Comments on what went wrong…

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Mistakes made = lessons learned.
Mistake number 1: Ignoring that first initial calf muscle pull August 12th. I rested one day and the next day it was gone. As you know it was never really healed and reoccurred on the flat less than 100 meters from the finish line of my August 25th [...]

Testing the injury with a 5 km walk today…

Today’s speed run slower than my PR…

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Cloudy and very windy day today. I went for my 5 km speed run and decided I did not have time to mess with my new Mizuno shoes and the laces and whatnot so I slipped on my old Saucony shoes and headed out. I managed to reach the halfway point in 14:52 [...]

My first training goal towards the Death Race…

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Over the next year or two I will be training for this race and reading all I can about it. From what I have read so far I think one of my goals should be to “armor plate” my quad muscles for downhill running. I must ask everyone I can how best avoid [...]
