Having slacked off all week I felt pretty rested and it was a real struggle to slow down and not go too fast. After all it is still supposed to be a rest week. By the time I got to the 2 km mark I noticed I was going too fast. I had to consciously force myself to go much slower than I wanted to. And it really wasn’t easy because I found my pace tended to creep up. Anyway, Sunday is the beginning of my training week and happily happens to be a rest day. Hmmm, aren’t you glad I didn’t write…”hardly hope it happily happens”. STAND BACK everyone! He’s got a pen and he’s not afraid to use it! Monday I am back at regular training.
A really cool thing happened during my run. Those of you who are familiar with the Pileated Woodpecker will know that it is a huge bird with a red cap that usually travels alone. I saw three of them playing around at the same time on the same telephone pole as I ran by, and the funny thing was that I was all dressed in black but I had my red Salomon baseball cap on. I wonder what they thought of me? If you don’t get it, I was dressed like the birds looked almost exactly.
