Buhrs Sensei had us doing a lot of push-ups and core strengthening exercises after our warm-up. Then we practiced our kicks using the protective mats again. I did pretty good except that my right toe started to get sore from the impact even though were we impacting on the instep, the shock of hitting the hard leather (or is it vinyl?) bag eventually made it pretty sore. Then Barrau Sensei took us through a long series of katas, stressing form and count and every time one of us did not listen, we were all “punished” by doing push-ups. Today’s class was longer than usual, and Marilyn and I stayed after class was over (the black belts stayed to train some more) so we could make sure we had Ko Tai Ran down pat. I think we finally have it and can now practice at home.
Ko Tai Ran is just my phonetic spelling of what I think they are saying. I have not seen the phrase written down in Romaji. So we are both very tired after doing this lesson, and doing a bajillion push-ups did not help either. So we are going to flop down on the couch and watch some movies.
I am looking forward to grading for my yellow belt in December, that is, if I am selected.
