11 km long run…

Today was nominally 4 degrees C. The sky was partly overcast with that kind of ominous linear dark cloud formation pierced by shafts of brilliant yellow sunlight. The winds were gusting to 50 kph but fortunately at least 80% of my route was in the sheltered trees. I saw the usual deer today but it is such a common sight to see three or four of them at a time that I rarely bother to mention it anymore. What did startle me all to heck was a stretch through the forest trails when I was startled by three or four grouse exploding out of the brush. It is very loud and you almost feel like you are being attacked by something unseen until you realize, hey, it’s not a charging leopard, it’s just a bunch of stupid birds. Ha ha.
