I had a great run today…

The temperature was very warm, about -5 degrees. I ran 11 km in 1:21:46 for a 7:26 pace. I felt really good; it was a good effort. It was hard doing the 2.5 km trail part of the loop because the snow was against me. For every step, the foot I landed on slid back about 2 inches in spite of my yaktrax. So when I came out of the trail loop and back on to the road I was a few minutes behind in my pace goal. I had to run really fast to make up for it but I did it. In the last two km I noticed a figure walking down the road with a dog. The dog turned out to be a large beast that looked like a Rotwieller. Karate 18

Yes, it has been 18 lessons since Marilyn and I started karate. It seems like forever ago. The dojo is located in the Robina Baker public school’s gym in Devon. The gym, and especially the wooden gym floor, was very cold due to the cold weather outside. The warm-up was more active and extended. Buhrs Sensei added some aerobics to yesterday’s warm-up, then had us do push-ups, and a large variety of core exercises. Once that was done we went through our kumites and some katas, then after the break we were divided into our respective ranks for further rank-specific instruction. I am not sure if I mentioned this before, but the classes are two hours long with a 2 minute break after the first hour.
