UFO buffs are inundated with theories that claim aliens come from other dimensions, popping into and out of ours to their hearts content, assuming that they have hearts.
Impossible. If aliens and their craft exist, they exist in this universe – you know, the one with the three dimensions: width, length, and height.
Let’s assume for the sake of argument that aliens do come from another dimension with four axes. Could they visit us? Well, a “no” dimensional universe is merely a point. An infinitesimally small point with no dimension. Nothing can occupy this universe.
Translate that point into a line and you have a universe with one dimension represented by a length, but no width or height. You now have universe “x”, a universe with only one dimension. Many points occupy that universe, but they can never interact or see each other, except perhaps for adjacent points.
Translate that line into a plane and you have a two dimensional universe. This is universe x,y. There can be many points in that universe and can all interact with each other.
Translate that into a prism, and you get a three dimensional universe. This is universe x,y,z. This is our universe and we live in it. You could describe our universe as one capable of containing volume. Could we visit universe x,y? Since this is merely a plane universe containing only area, we could not visit it since we would have to abandon our “volume-ness” for mere “plane-ness”. We could not survive nor could we function there.
Why couldn’t we function or survive there? Because we have to take our existence as a volume and change it into a plane. That can’t be done without seriously compromising our circulatory system, ha ha. In a different way, we could not have someone from a plane universe move into a volume universe without taking on the characteristics of a three dimensional object. In other words, it would no longer be a plane, since a plane cannot exist in a volume universe. In other words, it would have to take on thickness.
Similarly, we could not visit universe x either, since we would have to become either merely a line or a point. Again we could not survive this.
This is why aliens would have to come from our own universe x,y,z. Having evolved in a four-dimensional universe, it would be impossible for them to function in our 3 dimensional universe. So if there are universes with multiple dimensions, beings could not survive in dimensions lower than their own, or higher than their own. Since travel between such universes would be impossible, and even observing them would be impossible, it is exactly like they don’t exist. Therefore they don’t, in fact, exist.
Remember that our representations of a plane or a line, or a point, is wholly fictional. It is an abstract idea that is useful for dealing with geometric problems. No one can create or draw a real plane because any plane we can construct will always have thickness. Any point we can draw or create will always be a sphere, and not a real point.
