United Nations think we are morons!

Canadian science enthusiasts looking to get an early jump on next year’s holiday shopping might want to add something to their list: a telescope.
The United Nations on Thursday named 2009 the International Year of Astronomy, to mark the 400th anniversary of Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei’s first observations using a telescope.
The UN 62nd General Assembly made the proclamation Thursday morning in Paris, after the resolution was submitted by Italy, Galileo’s home country.
The International Astronomical Union and UNESCO will jointly run the initiative with 99 nations, including Canada, participating.
The United Nations seem to have absolutely no problem agreeing on things that are totally unimportant and insignificant. So they make up ridiculous public relations achievements that have absolutely no bearing on anything important, all the while happily patting themselves on the back for a job well done! But will they actually bring a stop to conflicts or bring world peace or actually do anything at all to help solve real problems? Will they ever show some backbone? Just ask the people in Somalia, Bangladesh, or any of a multitude of other problem areas.
I love this quote:
The focus of the UN program, however, will be on astronomy for the masses.
“The IYA2009 is, first and foremost, an activity for the citizens of planet Earth,” the UN said in a statement. “It aims to convey the excitement of personal discovery, the pleasure of sharing fundamental knowledge about the universe and our place in it, and the merits of the scientific method.”
Excuse me??? Astronomy for the masses? WTF!!?? What about “Security for the masses”? Don’t you think you should maybe trash your pathetic little sideshow antics and focus your resources on something that might save lives? DUH!
What a bunch of f**k**g idiots! Why the hell don’t you focus on something useful you bunch of addle-headed retards! I know I am using nasty and non-constructive emotional terms here - but you deserve it.
