7 km lets you know you’ve worked…

I began my 7 km today feeling very very fat and unwell. The day was a mild -8 C with no wind. I missed my usual time checkpoint at 1 km but I suspected I was starting out too slow. At the 2 km checkpoint I was almost a minute too slow so yet again I played a catch-up game which is exactly the same thing as fartleks, really. Anyway I gained back a few seconds at each checkpoint so that I ended up with negative splits and a time of 52:11 for a 7:27 pace.

I really like only running three times a week. I think it gives me more healing time which seems to allow me to perform better.

I have only 18 more kilometers left in my scheduled running this year, and if I manage to run them I will be short of the 1000 mile mark by about 125 kilometers. So far I’ve run 1466 km this year and I will end up at about 1484.
