Why is it snowing so hard in the maritimes?
Here is a theory based entirely on electrical short circuits in my brain caused by cosmic rays tearing through it, leaving a trail of destroyed brain cells in their wake: Have you ever heard that if the arctic ice cap melts, it will cause Britain and Europe to freeze? If not, the first thing you have to know is that the Gulf Stream keeps Britain and Europe from freezing. This is because the warm surface waters that comprise the Gulf Stream flow from the Caribbean area to the North Atlantic Ocean where it swings around and crashes into Europe, keeping Europe warmer than it would otherwise be as dictated by Europe’s northerly latitudes. These warm waters flow along the surface because they are less dense (although much saltier) waters compared to the much colder, less saline waters that flow south from the arctic. Run 1, 2008
Today’s first run of the year was 7 km at a 7:25 pace. Minus 7 degrees C and partly sunny. Just like my disposition. Ha ha. Looks like a promising year ahead. But I have to make it happen.
