Run 32, 2008
I managed to get a 7km run in today at the indoor track in 45 minutes and 6 seconds. That would be a 6:26 pace, or a full minute faster than my training pace. Which is a comfort, I suppose, given that my joints and bones feel like they’ve been hammered pretty good lately, and given my dismal performance in last Sunday’s 17 km long run. Still, even though I continue to train, the little nagging injuries are healing anyway. I floated about in the pool after. I played around with a little karate, mainly kicks, in the pool. I got the idea when I remembered water jogging. It was interesting and might be useful some day if I ever need it. It feels like I’m 40 pounds lighter in the pool so I can kick a lot higher. Karate 37
Well, yesterday’s class was pretty routine. We practiced basics again and katas. I can feel that I am improving, but I’ve been so busy lately I have not had time to practice. I met a new student today, a friend of Chris who also is named Chris I think, and he has taken Tai Quan Do before. Tae Quan Do. Tae Kwon Do. There are so many ways to spell it. Which is right? Other than that I don’t have a lot to say about yesterday’s class except that I always manage to learn something new and notice something old that needs tweaking. Can I have new joints now? It’s pretty frustrating when your form looks really bad because you are avoiding pain so you step funny. It makes you look like you don’t care and are just going through the motions.
