Run 47, 2008

Another 8 km bites the dust today as I tried to slow down a bit, doing the 8 km in 57:47 for a 7:13 pace. I wore my heart rate monitor today for the first time in like, forever and it was too difficult for me to get an accurate average heart rate. But I tried to keep my heart rate down below150, I think my average best guess is somewhere between 145 and 155. Maybe some day I can get me a fancy electronic gizmo that will give me all the gory details.

Of course every time I try to drink I can’t breathe and my heart rate consequently goes up much higher; it goes up when I climb even a moderate hill; and goes down when I run downhill or on the flat. My heart rate soars when I first start up before I am warmed up, then it goes down as the blood starts flowing.

At any rate I am running well within my target heart rate zone as determined from various internet sources such as the government of British Columbia’s Health Guide and others. So it’s all good, right?

After my run MM and I went on a 16 km bike ride just to check out where my turn around point would be when I run a 22 km week after next. So far we’ve only managed to get in a total of 48 km for this year.
