Another 26 km bike trip today…

Marilyn and I (on her suggestion) headed out for a bike ride to Devon today. Since I ran the same 24 km route yesterday I wasn’t sure I could handle it but I managed nicely! So we decided to measure out my 27 km run due next Sunday and I marked where the 13.5 km turn around point would be for me. After that we were free to go where we wanted since distance no longer mattered. After the 13.5 km was marked out, we headed to the Devon hospital so I could deposit some test samples I took for a routine physical.

We also stopped and had the lunch we carried with us. It was a pleasant ride and not too strenuous for me although the last hill Marilyn maxed out on and had to rest a bit.

Actually, I probably will not do the 27 km long run next Sunday as I have an approximately 14 km hard trail race on Saturday. I will likely delay the long run until Monday. I plan to actually measure the trail run with my bike just to see if the distance is accurate. Measuring it on my bike using my calibrated bike computer is very accurate. It is much more accurate than a car odometer, or GPS. But less accurate than a tape measure I’m sure. This is something I like to play with and in the future I plan to compare my GPS (PDA based unit) with my bike computer and compare their accuracies.

All in good fun.
