Run 55, 2008
by Administrator ~ June 23rd, 2008. Filed under: Training Notes, Training Runs.I was too hot. I felt too heavy. It was like running through water the air seemed so thick. I still am not well from allergies.
A very discouraging day, that’s for sure. I am totally in a blue funk. The only thoughts going through my head are negative ones. Cancel the marathon. Reduce it to a half. Quit running altogether. And so on in a pity party for one.
I have had such a rough year in terms of being plagued by one virus or another - and don’t forget to throw in some unprecedented and lengthy immune reactions to whatever the hell is floating around in the air and you’ve got one sick leopard!
This better not go on too much longer or I might begin to get angry.
In spite of my feeling of self-loathing and my woe-is me attitude, I at least managed to scrape together some sort of dynamic recovery plan that I hope will kick start me or at least slap me upside the head a few times.
I plan on skipping the long run for this, my scheduled rest week. I will instead do another 8 km on Wednesday and another 8 km on Friday, then resume my training on Sunday with my scheduled 30 km run for that day. In addition, I have to get out there much earlier to escape the dreadful heat. I know I’m a wimp compared to my American friends when it comes to heat, but I’m Canadian, eh? I’m not used to heat. I mean it was only just over 20 degrees C, but it was in full sun and on black asphalt.
At least I have a plan. If I don’t do well in this plan, including the long run this coming Sunday, I don’t know what I’ll do, but it won’t be pretty!
