Run 51, 2008

What an ugly mess. I ran the same 5peaks trail loop in Devon as last year. It is approximately 7 km though I can’t be sure. Anyway I will call it 7 km because I suppose over the 1500 or so km I run this year a difference of a few hundred meters hardly matters. I ran it in 54:38 which is a slow 7:48 pace. But the hills were killer hills from the depths of hell. That’s my excuse. That’s not the problem. The problem is that someone has destroyed the trails and a large part of the loop is closed. I don’t know why yet, but it looks like a road has been bulldozed or something with felled dead trees everywhere. Run 50, 2008

Part 1: I have not run yet this morning but am getting ready to go out. I thought I would jot down a few comments now, before my run. I want to compare what I expect from what actually happens. I don’t feel all that good today. I have noticed as I am getting older that I am developing more sensitivity to allergens in the air. And various joints in my feet and ankles feel like they have sheet metals screws in them. Right now my lungs have been very irritated for a few days. I can feel irritation in my extreme upper chest when I breath very deeply and it is not a pleasant feeling. It feels kind of like I am “over-stretching” or “over-inflating” my lung tissue.
