Run 73, 2008
Again I ran into trouble at the start of my 11 km today with low blood sugar. I drank some Gatorade and by km 5 – I was back to normal. The problem is that I am just eating a high fiber flax and bran cereal with skim milk in the morning for breakfast (about 300 calories and 19 grams of fiber). But I am trained to eat a power bar (300 calories) and two toast with almond butter before a long training run of over 20 km. So I think my body is expecting a huge calorie and sugar rush every time I run now, even though I don’t need it for a short 11 km run. I think I’ll eventually re-program my body to avoid that.
