Run 85, 2008 Running against the wind…

My knee always lets me know it is there and not happy lately, however today’s run was much better. I ran 11 km in 1:15:57 for a 6:54 pace. Although it was sunny it was quite cool at 8 degrees and a wind gusting to 56 kph. Running against that wind is literally breathtaking. There were several dozen school kids out “biologizing” with their teachers at the bird sanctuary today.

Karate 60

After a month and a half absence we were back in class yesterday evening and it’s getting to be really exciting. Marilyn and I missed just 4 classes while we were in the USA. We are going to go three days in a row starting Thursday to various dojos because Tsumura Shihan, our chief instructor of Shito Ryu Itosu Kai in Canada will be coming to Edmonton to give special seminars. I think he is the only 8th Dan Karatedo and 5th Dan Kobudo outside of Japan. He is flying in from his home base in Toronto. Thursday’s class is 2 hours as usual but Friday and Saturday will be 2.5 hours each and combines karate with kobudo Bo. I am just a wee bit concerned about the bad timing for this event since Thursday night’s class begins at 7 PM and I have to donate blood at 5 PM. … Continue reading
