Run 88, 2008 …my IT band is still on strike…

Another 11 km which started out famously at a 6:40 pace until km 6 then I completely fell aprt in spite of the fact that I was wearing a knee brace. It is very discouraging, especially after a week break from running. My doctor’s appointment is not until Nov. 10th, but I will just have to be patient because I really need professional help with this one. I was so happy when I began running faster, almost reaching my goal of a sub hour ten kilometer run. Now I am stonewalled. I’m going to have to slow down and take it easy for God knows how long. It’s the same kind of rotten feeling you get when you’re late for work and you’ve just missed the bus. Now I have to wait for the next one.

Somehow, I’ll get through this and I’ll be back, stronger than ever. Sigh.

    John,

You have my sympathy with your injury. When I sprained my ankle last November, I thought it would take 8 – 12 weeks to heal and then I’d be fine. Nope. I had to reduce my training volume significantly as it continued to hurt to run until May. The good news is that it’s fine now and you will be too.

Hang in there – it’s never easy!
