Run 89, 2008 – I just don’t get it…

I considered running again today and almost canceled because my knee wasn’t feeling all that great. But then I decided that maybe I’d slap a knee brace on like last time only this time I would go slow. Turns out I had a great 11 km run with a 6:42 pace. I just don’t get it. I ran it in 1:15:07 and nary had a knee twinge. Still, I monitored it very closely and tried to slow down. But I was feeling so strong I just couldn’t help myself and pushed a lot faster than I promised myself I would do. I ran after work today, starting around 5 PM and getting back before dark.

I just don’t get why my knee did not swell up and pack it in again. It couldn’t be because I began stretching my IT band again, because I only started a few days ago. Could it? Anyway, I’ve no illusions that I’m all healed up. I still want to keep tha speed and distance down. So I am promising myself to stay just below a 7 minute pace and no more than 11 km, three times a week until after the assessment from the medics Nov 10th.

Maybe I have to do a 10 km before the end of the year just to see what I can do in a measured race. Get an official PR maybe. Say around the end of December?
