Karate 72
Last Tuesday’s class had us practicing kicking, walking, blocking, and punching. We did kata in the second hour. I am better at remembering which of the 12 kihon kata are which by number. My knee is still pretty flaky so my turns are not what they could be. Nevertheless I am seeing a lot of improvement in my skill set, maybe even enough to advance one grade in a couple of weeks from now. I asked about the hip movements and was told that at least for the grading concentrate on just getting it right and try not to worry about torquing the hips into it because at my level it is not a requirement. Better not to try to do something beyond my requirements at the grading. Makes sense really. I can get those hips moving after the grading.
