Declaring war on irresponsible dog owners.

I am fed up with being harassed and attacked by dogs while running on public roadways and in public recreation areas, and I am declaring total war. And you all should do the same. If you encounter an incident, you should stand your ground even if it means abandoning your run and call the local dog control officer right away from your cell phone and resolve the issue right there and then. Use whatever means you have handy (cell phone with camera and a phone number) to record the offending dog and the owner and the license plate number if the dog owner was driving. If the dog is alone, take photos. It’s important because unless you can positively absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt identify that dog, there is nothing anyone will or can do to help you. I know this from experience. If they ask you a question about the dog, such as “was he wearing a collar” or “on which ear was that white patch” and you can’t answer, too bad for you. The key is positive identification. Without it you are nowhere. Finally, no matter what, press charges. It is an unpleasant task, but I don’t know of any other way to make an impact. Does anyone else have any legal suggestions that do not involve abandoning your rightful use of a property?
