I’m also glad the holidays are over and that Karate is starting up again this Tuesday. I’m looking forward to that. Speaking of which, I should go now and go through a few kata.

You do karate do?
What style?
I take Shito-ryu Itosu Kai Karate twice a week in two hour classes with a break after the first hour. It’s really a tough cross train if you are a runner because of the leg work. I really like the way it trains your whole mind and body in terms of muscle recruitment and coordination.
I guess I’m in pretty good shape for a soon to be 57 year old guy, but there’s no way I could ever compete with the younger crowd. Keeps me younger than I would be otherwise! Still I haven’t yet reached my peak condition, not by a long shot.
I know karate could be quite a challenge if you start late. But as long as you’re enjoying it, no reason to quit.
I used to do train and teach Shotokan. It’s been 7 years ago since I last stepped in the dojo. I’m missing it so much. We used to run on the weekends as part of the training. But I was such a poor runner back then. But now that I’m running, I’m already away from the dojo. But if things go as I planned, I should be back there again soon.
Good luck with the training!
You too Cris, I’m sure you won’t regret going back to the dojo! Many of our local Alberta, Canada black belts went to the Itosu-ryu Karatedo World Championships in Kuala Lumpur.
Such competition is not for me however. Good luck to you!
Thanks!
I dreamt of that joining international tourneys. Maybe it’s not yet too late. However, I’ve devoted my next years to Underwater Hockey…and just going to teach my hockey friends a little Karate for fitness.
