Run 56, 2010 …Today’s hill training…
I bit the bullet today and decided to tackle hill training head on so I went to the river valley to the hill I had measured the other day. The hill has a 12% grade and is 500 meters long, or at least the part I’m interested in is that long. There is a cross walk half way up conveniently located at the 250 meter mark. I was pretty sure I would not try to go all the way up so I stuck with half way. My regular training routes are all totally flat so I have had absolutely NO hill training before. Because of that I suffer a lot in my trail races where there are lots of hills. Up hills are certainly a challenge but they are nothing compared to the downhill segments.
