What the bleep do they know? Not much, apparently…
I’ve just watched that enlightening pseudo-documentary film, “What the Bleep Do We Know?” I was going to call the title of this post, “The Anti-Secret” because this post is about the lack of critical thinking displayed by those who believe in this rubbish. As soon as I began watching this film I was absolutely sure there was a link here to the makers of “The Secret”. But more about this later. You are misled if you believe most of this crap. At this point, my choice of words hopefully has driven away those who are not really serious about knowing what is true, or are uncomfortable when their beliefs are challenged. Good. I intended this to happen. If you are still reading, it means that although you may rightfully be feeling strongly emotional about my choice of words, you are not controlled by your emotions. This is a good thing. … Continue reading

A really bad way to prove a point…
Almost every TV station and documentary suffers from this disease. But it is not really a disease, is it? Not when it is carefully planned and implemented so that the maximum revenue is obtained. What is this disease? Oops, sorry it is not a disease, but a technique. Here is how it works. Someone has a crazy idea but has no proof. So what do you do? Simple, you invent a “mystery”, then ask some questions about it to make it sound like a fantastic revelation then you sell it to FOX or the History channel and make money. The point, and this is true for many so-called “documentaries”, is that you lead the audience to where you want to go by asking loaded questions, then you supply an answer before one has a chance to think about it. I watched a brief YouTube excerpt from the History channel about … Continue reading

I am a self-proclaimed YouTube-ologist…
One of my favorite entertainments is cruising through You-Tube videos. Specifically, I like the paranormal – UFO – face on Mars – pyramid building aliens – end of the world – Illuminati – government conspiracy – brain-sucking aliens — and other fun stuff like that. And I love to leave comments. But I am not a troll, my comments are genuinely intended to be a, well, a comment. Seriously, I am very appalled at the scientific ignorance displayed in the comments for each and every video (if comments have not been disabled). Not only scientific ignorance, but ignorance of the English language, spelling, and grammar. I do not know if they are just lazy or if they really type “sum” repeatedly when they mean to say “some”. Or they type “hoo r u” in lieu of “who are you”. They leave out nouns, verbs, vowels, conjunctions, so that their sentences … Continue reading

Have you heard…”The Secret”…?
I cannot keep silent on the latest phenomena called “The Secret”, a film by TS Production LLC. I think the concept came from Rhonda Byrne. They also have a web site where you can buy things (of course they sell things!) and join to learn more secrets. See www.thesecret.tv but please don’t fall for their BS. This film is 99% bullshit and 1% truth. It’s nothing new, their brand of wishful thinking has been around for centuries and repackaged many times as something new when the idea really isn’t new at all. Basically they say we all control the universe with our thoughts, or more accurately, with our emotions behind our thoughts. All you have to do is believe that you can have anything you want and you will get it. To paraphrase one of the so-called authorities in the movies, “Thoughts become Things.” This is the same old bullshit … Continue reading
